A storm chaser has turned his hobby into a job, driving tens of thousands of miles every year to take spectacular photographs of extreme weather. This storm chaser is no other than the popular Mike Hollingshead, an American professional storm chaser, photographer and videographer from Blair, Nebraska.

His pictures of extreme weather conditions are amazing and might tempt you to chase storms yourself (really dangerous!). “I started chasing storms in 1999, after watching storms for years from town as a kid,” he says.

When Hollingshead hears of an upcoming storm, he immediately jumps in his car and races after storm warnings in the hope of capturing shots of tornadoes. He follows an incredible number of about 40 storms each year.

His work has been covered by NPR, numerous photography magazines and websites, and on the cover of National Geographic. It is also featured in films and television, such as Take Shelter, The Fifth Estate, and the series finale of Dexter.
