Aerial and Fashion Photography Mashups by Joseph Ford

Joseph Ford is a talented photographer who was born in London in 1978. He began taking pictures while he was doing his degree in French and Italian at the University of Cambridge. He writes on his official blog “I work regularly with a team of stylists, hair/makeup artists, casting directors; location finders, animal handlers and production managers, and I can source people to coordinate all elements of a shoot.”

Aerial landscape photography and fashion photography hardly go together in most peoples’ minds, but not with Ford’s series of Aerial mashups. The whole series is actually made up of two photo projects done for two different magazines.

Creating these photographs was not easy. Although they selected landscapes and clothes that would go well together, the clothes had to be lit just right to match the landscapes and the fashion photos took as long as 12 hours to properly set up and shoot. There was almost no retouching done to the images at all except for some color balance tweaks.

Aerial Landscape Photography by Bernhard Edmaier

Bernhard Edmaier is a German photographer, geologist, and author. A strange combination, but he uses these skills to capture breathtaking landscapes from high up in the sky. Edmaier is already a geologist before he made photography passion 20 years ago and founded a photographic agency ‘Geophot – Pictures of the Earth’.

His knowledge in geology helps him to present the manifold colours, forms and structures which the Earth has created without man’s interference using aerial photography. The picture above is the famous Yellowstone’s hot springs. Mats of heat-loving bacteria and algae, which hold carotene, colour the sinter crust and the channels orange and brown.

Driven by his perennial interest in natural phenomena, Bernhard Edmaier travels extensively to deserted and still untouched corners of the globe to gather material for his books and other photographic projects.
