Faces of Models Transformed Into 2D Images by Alexander Khokhlov

“2D Or Not 2D” photo project is the second collaboration between Russian photographer Alexander Khokhlov and make-up artist Valeriya Kutsan, with the assistance of Veronica Ershova in retouching and post-production of the images. They have created a series of portraits that play with the natural lines of their models’ faces and twist them into strange new forms.

Inspired by 2D posters, the aim of the project was to transform models’ faces into 2D images. Kutsan’s makeup design flattens the faces of the models, while the angles chosen by Khokhlov and enhanced by Ershova contribute to the overall illusion of 2D representation.

According to Khokhlov – “Valeriya used different techniques of face painting so you can see a lot of variations – from sketch and graphic arts to water-colour and oil-paintings. This is a combination of interesting make-ups, studio photography experiments and careful retouching.”

Blow Job by Tadas Černiauskas

Tadas Černiauskas held one of the craziest photo shoots ever seen during the Design Weekend in Vilnius. Visitors to the TADAO CERN studio were invited to participate in an unexpected photoshoot called “Blow Job” where models were being blasted in the face by a high-powered jet of air from an industrial leaf blower.

The results are hilarious, if not a bit terrifying. Bored with all the usual poses, Černiauskas decided to do something completely different that would blow the models away (literally). The exercise was simple enough, yet produced unique and very hilarious results.
