Observing Generation Gaps by Frauke Theilking

German photographer Frauke Theilking‘s photo project called “Generation” captures the similarities and differences between generations. Each photo pairs up a parent and child, either a mother/daughter or father/son, side by side.
Looking at the two figures, there are apparent likenesses and gaps. For a lot of the images, it feels like looking at a split-screen of the same person at different stages in their life.

World’s Best Father by Dave Engledow

World's Best Father by Dave Engledow

World’s Best Father by Dave Engledow

Dave Engledow is World’s Best Father, well, according to his coffee mug.

Engledow is creating an unconventional scrapbook for his daughter Alice Bee, so that when she grows up, she will have a complete photographic record of herself in funny and weird situations.

The first shot he did with Alice was just a simple one where he wanted to make fun of himself – a new father, sleep deprived and kind of clueless. When his fans saw this, they wanted to see more so Engledow made it into a series. The mug in his photo that says “World’s Best Father” ultimately became his trademark in his photos. He portrays in his pictures the kind of father he doesn’t want to become – distracted, clueless and overbearing.

Engledow and Alice actually pose separately and the pictures are just Photoshopped into a final product. He manipulates the images digitally so they look more cartoonish.
