iPhone Photos of People Floating in Mid-Air

A Bologna, Italy-based artist Simone Bramante helps companies come up with unique social media strategy. He’s not just an artist but a jack-of-all-trades, working as a commercial photographer, illustrator, and graphic designer. However, in his spare time, he lays his Canon 6D and L-series lenses and picks up his trusty iPhone and captures himself as well as others floating in mid-air.

Bramante admits he is using photo editing apps to help him create these magical illusions, including Snapseed, Photoshop, FIlterstorm, VSCO and Afterlight, to name some. He started posting his photos on Instagram account brahmino about three years ago and now over 436,000 people follow him. Due to his number of followers and amazing posts, Forbes spotted his talent late last year, listing him as one of 10 Instagram photographers we should all follow.

This photo project of former blogger and photo editor Rachel Hulin “Flying Henry” shows her baby Henry floating in landscapes. Hulin started this series because she was bored. A new mom who’d recently relocated from Brooklyn to Providence, Rhode Island, she says, “I was looking for a project to sink my teeth into while I was home with Henry when he was so little. I was trying figure out motherhood and the whole thing seemed so weird to me.”

Although Hulin wouldn;t go into specifics on how she achieved such pictures, she swears she never throw Henry in the air. “And I never move him into a place in the frame that he wasn’t in to begin with. I like Henry to fly the way he feels like it, I never pose him in a specific way,” she said.

Underwater photographer Robin Conway has taken a number of shoots with dancers underwater. His particular interest in underwater photography stems from becoming a water lover at an early age through swimming, scuba diving and working as a life guard as well.

Underwater photography is a challenging practice and needs extreme skill and dedication and with many years of experience, Conway has become a master of these techniques. The resulting images are a depiction of illusion where bodies appear effortlessly floating through space.

Conway’s work can also be considered as fashion photography. He is absorbing the techniques fashion thereby creating and developing his own distinctive version.
