Wildlife Photography by Roeselien Raimond

Wildlife Photography by Roeselien Raimond

Roeselien Raimond is a former art therapist and web designer. She has always been interested in both art and living beings. But nowadays, she tries to combine her love for nature and art by getting into photography. A few years ago, she was living a very hectic life and she needed some peace of mind, and she found it in nature and wildlife photography. Her camera was a pretty good excuse to roll in the grass and forget about her busy life for a while.

The unpredictable nature of the wild changed Raimond’s world. Nature photography demands a lot of patience and flexibility because you can never foresee its natural behavior. She learned to take things as they are and go with the natural flow which are mostly unexpected, but can lead to something wonderful.

As Roeselien Raimond said, “Learn and get inspired by looking at others, but finally choose your own path.”

The Human Body by Mona Kuhn

The Human Body by Mona Kuhn

The Human Body by Mona Kuhn

Photographer Mona Kuhn is best known for her large-scale photographs of nudes. Her work redefines the ways of looking at the body. Her pictures often depict classical themes with a light and insightful touch. Kuhn’s approach to her photography is unusual that she develops close relationships with her subjects, resulting in images of remarkable naturalness and intimacy. Her subjects are naked but they are comfortable in their own skin.

As Kuhn said, “I always feel that people are dressed in their own skin.” For her, the nude is like “an art-historical costume you can’t get away from. And if a nude is a costume, then naked would be a uniform.” Focusing her lens on different subjects including her friends and family, Kuhn’s photographs are markedly egalitarian – meaning that every one of them is equal in every aspect.

In Katrina’s Wake by Chris Jordan

In Katrina’s Wake by Chris Jordan

In Katrina’s Wake – A series of photos depicting the aftermath of the hurricane Katrina all over America. This photo project was created by American photographic artist Chris Jordan whose main concerns are about the consumerism of today’s society.

Almost 300,000 Americans lost their properties in this disaster. Classrooms, houses broken, clothes and books scattered and debris everywhere. What is bothering in Jordan’s mind is whether we are somewhat responsible for this catastrophe since there were evidences that hurricane Katrina was not an entirely natural disaster like earthquake. He said, ‘From that perspective, my hope is that these images might encourage some reflection on the part that we each play, and the loss that we all suffer, when a preventable catastrophe of this magnitude happens to the people of our own country. Katrina has illuminated our interconnectedness, and it makes our personal accountability as members of a conscious society ever more difficult to deny.’

He wants us to act, not just react. To do something for them how small it might be.
