Daniel Nimmervoll is an Austria-based photographer who captured these incredible macro shots of water droplets using a high speed camera. The shot above captures a .22 caliber bullet that passed through the column of water produced by the drop of water as it hit the surface. Capturing a bullet in flight is no easy feat by itself, capturing one as it passes through a drop of water which exists for a mere second is relatively unheard of. High tech equipment helps, but it is the photographer’s skill whom due credit should be given.

High-Speed Photographs of Dogs Shaking by Carli Davidson

Shake is a new book of photos from Portland-based photographer Carli Davidson picturing dogs doing what they do best – making a huge mess. She gets the dogs into a good mood by playing around with them and then shoots their portraits with a high-speed camera and strobe lights while they shake water off of their heads. The amusing portraits seem to transform ordinary pets into strangely distorted animals right out of a cartoon. This project was partially inspired by her dog Norbert whose drool she regularly scrubs from the walls of her home due to his frequent shaking.

She began her work with animals at the Oregon Zoo by photographing birds of prey, and now does freelance work photographing animals for both commercial and individual clients. Shake features a total of 130 high speed photos of 61 dogs, some of which are also available as prints.

In this latest photo series Water Wigs, L.A. photographer Tim Tadder captures bald men getting pounded with water balloons. “I got tired of repeating the same thing all the time,” says Tadder, a successful commercial photographer. “I wanted to find a visual concept that I’d never seen before.” Water was on Tadder’s mind because he recently finished his photo project Fish Heads which were pictures of people’s head stuck underwater.

The technical aspects of the wig photos are complicated. Capturing the difference between a balloon exploding in the right place comes down to just milliseconds. To do this, he had to make his studio completely dark a freeze the action with a high speed flash. Tadder had an assistant who shine a flashlight on the model’s head, figure their aim, turn out the light then get ready to throw. He used a sound trigger to capture the noise made by the explosion.

So far the shots was very well received and spreading quickly across the internet.

The Fish Heads photo project is a series of underwater portraits using water surface tension to create texture surrounding the faces created by Los Angeles based photographer Tim Tadder. Tim Tadder is a visual communicator who produces award-winning campaign work for top consumer brands including Adidas, Budweiser, Coke Zero, Craftsman, Gatorade, and more.

This project was born out of a desire to push himself creatively and make some images that were really different from anything Tadder has seen before. He loves shooting in water and playing with the surface tension and texture of the water.

They shot in a studio using a 2ft square aquarium. There had several problems at first regarding their filter but it was resolved by a great guy who built them a super filter and helped them figure out how to make it work. Tadder had to take hundreds of shots but still the quality of the images are all worth the effort.
